Historical Note:  In 1988 after sixteen years instructing English, history, film
criticism, and other assorted courses to 7th through 10th grade kids in the
classroom, I started JET Tutoring.  St. Monica's in Santa Monica, and Windward
School in West Los Angeles proved a useful training ground for what lay ahead the
next twenty years.  This past June, 2008, my wife, Evie Lansberry and I formally
closed shop.  However, we still offer assistance in the form of eBooks for grammar
and a video on How to write a standard essay.  See links above.    

Evie and I are proud to have employed the very best tutors to work with our
students over the past two decades.  We became known to our clientele as a
"boutique" service as we deliberately remained small emphasizing the quality of our
tutors while limiting subjects tutored largely to the maths, sciences, writing &
grammar.  We viewed our tutors as "talent" which we defined as: well-prepared in
subject matter, ability to convey subject matter, patient, and possessing a good
sense of humor.  Evie and I always felt that we were in business of education, not the
education business.   

Some of those tutors and even a few of those students now have families of their
own.  It's been a good run and a stimulating one as parents continue to discover that
one-to-one tutoring plays an integral role facilitating traditional education models in
fulfilling their mission for their children.

Evie and I would like to thank all of the tutors with whom we proudly associated, and
particularly those families who placed faith in us over the years. We trust that all is
well in their lives.
